Am I Listening?

In other words: speak less and listen more.  Isn’t that what (most) spiritual disciplines would have us understand?  In business as well as in personal relationships, listening skills are touted, for those who do it well increase their own ability to bond with others in more meaningful ways, build cohesion in teams, and increase productivity on various levels,

Meditation, yoga practice, daily prayer — all of these do not come easy to me.  I’m a multi-tasker, always doing or thinking, on-the-go.  It made no difference that I had tried “forever”; working within a church environment for years and being a leader/volunteer for many more before that still did not quiet my brain chatter enough to really Listen on a regular basis. Besides, learning how to pray and what to say — these are not the same things as Listening (with a capital L).  Mind chatter, whether religious in nature or not — it’s still noise.

Somewhere along the way someone suggested I stop trying to carve out a daily space of time and just take time on the fly.  So I tried it — while driving, stopped at a red light. Before dashing from bed in the morning.  2 minutes just after lunch or when I stood up for a computer break. While prepping supper at the stove top. Allowing myself to float for those few minutes was very freeing.  That was so much easier, and caused me to add a level of gratefulness to my life I hadn’t yet experienced.

Do you feel it like I do?  I mean, when you’re “trying” to get in the zone, thinking of all the things you’re grateful for…they just seem stifled somehow. Though supposedly called prayer, the thoughts seem like just words to stuff in a box. Yet, when “listening” — I mean being actively aware of my surroundings while rolling through my day, recognizing the beauty in a minute or two as it sits in front of my face — well, that is an eye-opener.  I began to see how beneficial quieting the mind can be.

How to make it better?

A few years passed, and as Life would have it, I got busy again and my 2-minutes time-outs got a little sparse.  That is, until I was introduced to Reiki. Oh no — that dreaded word that so many still don’t understand — Reiki.  It’s overused and boring, right?  To tell you the truth, I thought about it that way as well.  Of course, I didn’t really know what it was — like prayer, or for healing, or for meditating it seemed.  So, basically I ignored it as a potential helpmate in my own life and stress-management practice.

Have you ever noticed how when we don’t pay attention to the messages that come our way, we then get lessons instead?  A few years ago my husband had a surgical procedure that was extremely painful during the recovery process, and a friend/Reiki Master offered to do some distance work on his behalf.  What a great surprise to hear him say after the appointed session that the inflammation had gone down and the pain reduced.  It worked faster than anything else he’d tried up to then. So how did she do that? almost as an after-thought.

But the spark of light was still in my sub-conscious, and little by little I began to read in chat groups about the strength that comes from Reiki practice. And, finally I Listened to that voice in my head and within my own training thereafter, it surely proved helpful as a healing modality. And as I began to incorporate Reiki as a daily spiritual practice, it had the impact I’d been seeking for years.  It has proven to be a singular factor to turn off the chatter and hearing what I’m supposed to know.

While teaching students Reiki Level 2 practices not long ago, I invited them to share their personal experiences up to that point. Each of the people had varying degrees of understanding about energy work, and one of them had an established practice in another modality.  She shared that her work prior to Reiki was very beneficial to others, but often took awhile for them to “see” results. Since learning Level 1 and incorporating it into her work, her clients were experiencing a much faster response rate.  (Ok, another one for the healing aspect.)

The second bit of info she shared was a personal testimony to change — since beginning her daily self-practice, she was experiencing an influx of clients knocking at her door.  My interpretation: She had been seeking abundance with no results…yet here, a bit of spiritual discipline was changing the scenery. Listening to the inner voice was making a difference.

Antoine de St. Expiry, the same man who wrote “The Little Prince,” said this:  “A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single person contemplates it bearing within them the image of a cathedral.”

Listen. That’s all there is to it. When we make time to listen, new options naturally present themselves for us to contemplate. Being open to hearing widens the possibility for opportunity thereafter.

So maybe you’re ready now too. Just ask yourself, “What do I want but haven’t yet found? Am I Listening?”

Finding Your Calling is All About Vibration

“I’ve come to believe that each of us has a personal calling that’s as unique as a fingerprint and that the best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others in the form of service, working hard, and also allowing the energy of the universe to lead you.”  

This quote from  Oprah Winfrey is one thing she said over the years that makes perfect sense.  It is not something most people talk about — a “calling” to one’s purpose. In church life, pastors and lay people often express their work that way, but not typically others. Maybe we should.

When we ponder from our core that which was given to us at birth; when we hear from mentors and loved ones their perceptions of our strengths; when we consider the weaknesses we have, those areas where we have not succeeded; and when we open ourselves to Spirit flowing through us, affirming those things we are learning — only then do we begin to understand the depth of not only who we are but who we may yet be.

These mental activities have a way of relieving AND refreshing us. The aspects of Self we affirm give us confidence. The discoveries that lead us to let things go may in fact release the imponderable stress we may not have known was holding us back.

The worldly psychological work process models offer tools like the Myers-Briggs testing and spiritual gifts surveys to assist us in seeing a better profile of our characteristics. Each is well worth the time to acquire a fuller picture of the true you. Both will enhance your overall understanding of Self, again offering an opportunity to release from your life accumulations that no longer serve your best and highest good.

More people are learning to develop mentor or coaching teams, whose members act like guidance counselors with a twist. Their purpose is to hear what you’re saying/doing/ feeling/acting upon and offering concrete suggestions for how you might move into the next segment of time and change based on perspectives you have outlined (goals and objectives, perhaps). They do not tell you what to do so much as invite you to consider options that allow you to step into new ways of thinking.

Coaching teams are a 2-way model; as the coachee, one has significant responsibility to one’s Self and to the Team. It should be a joyful experiences, as these are usually people you consider leaders in life, who you admire and would be willing to act upon their advice. With a team of helpers, it is often easier to move forward with the tangible actions that need to be taken to incite change.

Vibrational energy (medicine) has been growing in acceptance over the last 10+ years, and with good cause. All living things vibrate with life. When we acknowledge this and learn to increase our vibrational levels, a natural result is the diminution of pain, stress and anxiety that come from conscious and unconscious stress. Once our brain and adrenal glands have an opportunity to return to their “norm”, it is fundamentally easier for our conscious mind to consider a wider number of options that may lead us to our soul-Self.  Little by little, our whole body structure improves.

So many forms of holistic care are now available that it is a challenge to list them all conclusively. They range from strictly in-the-head (meditation) to strong physical activities (cardio exercises) and the more subtle energy-related activities (yoga, qigong, tai chi, etc.). The hands-on work of massage therapists is well-documented for releasing tension and rejuvenating muscle structure where physical degeneration is present. Less know but often helpful is the Alexander Technique, which was developed originally to help people with repetitive motion stress impediments.

Various forms of Reiki healing can be easily learned as a spiritual practice for self-care as well as received as services from trained masters. The results of Reiki are proven time and again, and are allowing the practice of Reiki in hospitals worldwide.  There’s also Access Consciousness Bars, Donna Eden energy work, Heartmath,  Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT); the list goes on.

The technology of traditional biofeedback, used since the 60’s as a method to modify behavior, birthed a unique tool called the SCIO. it is a Quantum biofeedback device that offers an energetically layered approach to view unconscious stress and learn how to release it in order to continue moving forward on your journey.

The self-healing market is layered with tool options, some of which are enjoying growing popularity because of their obvious results for leaving stress by the wayside. Aromatherapy has been utilized for thousands of years, and Young Living essential oils provide the essence of organic and kosher elements to jump-start one’s body almost immediately through the senses. A growing variety of Laser Light therapy opportunities continue to show multi-level results as well.

Other methods proven over the ages include homeopathy, the use of fresh/raw foods, and herbal remedies. Crystal energy is not to be forgotten; utilizing gems assists especially in clearing chakra and meridian blockages, connecting us to heaven and earth in ways our Indian cultures have known for hundreds of years or more. And many find solace and direction by incorporating the varied vibrational energies of music and drums and bowls equally useful in their process.

By now you’re probably wondering what has all this “new age” type of healing got to do with finding your purpose in life. Oprah offered you a clue when she said, “…allowing the energy of the universe to lead you.”    When you do one thing, it has an impact (seen or unseen) elsewhere.

So what are you being called to next?  Are you feeling that itchiness that makes you feel like you’re a living example of attention deficit disorder? Can’t sit still, focus. Know there’s change coming and you’re resisting it? Wondering what that next relationship or job is going to look like and haven’t a clue how you’ll move forward?  Each day is a challenge as you try to identify why what you are doing doesn’t seem to be working any more.

Life is interconnected. So whether your actions are like a rock skipping over water resulting in a trail you can see or just a “feeling” that “something is different”, those motions are truly interconnected with so much else. Apprehending and appreciating the information that will lead you to understanding your personal mission and life purpose will (must) be a journey. And the choices you make along the way will ultimately play a role in your success.

The work of Life is about Body, Mind (mental and emotional) and Spirit. The idea is to incorporate elements into our lives that ratify one another.  So often, we leave out a part of the equation which impedes results. If you are going to let your Light shine and become better in your co-creator role with Source energy, find each and every thing that resonates with your heart and soul — and try them on for size. Some pieces may not fit so you will discard them; other’s will seem to be designed just for you and mold on like a second skin.

Do what works for you as you seek answers and develop new routines.  This takes time and patience and practice. And that’s okay. What Has Reiki to Do with Ego? “Everything”

Reiki and Ego are associated? Well, maybe “Nothing” would be a right response as well. The fact is that when our ego is balanced, we know when to let intelligent thought give meaning to that which we’re experiencing. Simultaneously, we are then capable to appreciate that as a vessel of energetic being, we sometimes need simply to be (as in, get out of the way) in order to let our ego self go so the universal life force energy can have its way.

This may sound like mindless chatter to some, so let’s consider further. An online search for dictionary definitions of ego produced this (summarized) information:

“Ego” is a Latin and Greek word meaning “I”, often used in English to mean the “self”, “identity” or other related concepts; the self, especially as distinct from the world and other selves. Additionally:(a) In psychoanalysis, the division of the psyche that is conscious, most immediately controls thought and behavior, and is most in touch with external reality. (b) An exaggerated sense of self-importance; conceit. (OR) Appropriate pride in oneself; self-esteem.

For the sake of this article let us say this: My ego identifies me from all other external beings. It allows me to acknowledge my importance in the life-stream of the universe. It allows me to have self-esteem, confidence in who I Am. Supposing that description is accurate, an associated perspective might also allow this thought: Should I then perceive myself to be more or less important than any others, I could fool my (conscious) self into believing that I might have greater or lesser ability or benefit or potential or significance.

In truth, we all have access to the Source of Reiki. What makes us more or less effective as practitioners may be nothing more than releasing our ego in order for the universal energy to do its job. When we allow that the un-conscious is truly at work, and acknowledge that we are just a channel in which it is working, we then have the capacity to be “good” at what we do. At that precise moment of recognition, we are disengaging our ego.

Ego allows us to discover and express our own self-confidence, which creates an opportunity for our giftedness to shine. It is also true that we can become so focused on being the best we can be, and thus take our understanding of self to an ultimate level of perfection in our mind, that we lose our sense of balance. This may be so whether in the practice of Reiki or anything else in life.

If, however, we are doing Self-work daily to clear those expressions of ego that no longer serve, we may be less likely to fall into this language: “I” healed her….through “my” sessions with him, his cancer went into remission…because of “my” teaching ability, “my” students are extraordinary. If anyone catches themselves in this spiral of thinking, remember this definition from Brahma Kumaris –

“Ego is attachment, inside my consciousness, to an incorrect image of my self which I then mistake for myself. When the attachment takes place, you lose your sense of identity in the image of the object of attachment which you create on the screen of your mind.”

In the practice of Reiki, we invite the energy of the higher self in co-creation with Source energy (I Am), angels, and guides to bring their blessings to the table to be used for the best and highest good of whatever/whoever is before us. We work on our Self before we work on others. Whether in prayer or deep meditation, we ask that our work may be effective and that our ego may be in check so that healing may occur.

As people who practice Reiki with self-confidence, we may accept our good points with humility and simply dare to be great in its practice. In that moment we may know our own happiness too. As ego is released, we are open to a higher connection with the energy of others. Our abilities strengthen while offering Light through the Source to those seeking relationship, guidance, healing, and perhaps so much more. Namaste.

10 Keys to Creating Positive Results with Reiki

 It is common for people who know nothing of this healing modality to ask what results they may find by having a session. Talk to any active Reiki practitioner and you will find many ways in which “results” are manifested through their work. Stories of healing abound with each of them because of their own health experiences as well as their clients.

 

Yet when we’re just beginning (and even a bit of time into) our practice, there are many questions in our own minds as well, especially if we’ve never done a “hands on” healing modality before learning Reiki.  “How do I know this is working?” is what we may ask ourselves.  Our novice hands and inability to imagine the potential often cause us to doubt how Reiki energy will develop into tangible results for ourselves and others.  Thankfully, universal life force energy has a mind of its own!

Truthfully, success with Reiki is similar to many other types of endeavors.  If  we put significant effort into the project, common sense will tell us results should follow.  Being a scratch golfer takes more than three plays on the course.  Playing an instrument takes years; art forms of all kinds require an investment of time as well as money, much like starting a new business.

Below is a compilation of thoughts accumulated from many conversations and experiences.  No doubt you will find another point or two to add because it’s been effective for you, and I invite conversation to expand the list based on your experiences too.  Enjoy!

  1. Be an enthusiastic student.  Acquire the best possible training you can from  active practicing Master Teachers.  Be inquisitive, curious and willing to do things just as they say; after you have been active for a while will be soon enough to mold what you learn into your own style. Give yourself time to grow into your new role.
  2. Allow yourself to be coach-able.  Find a mentor you admire and who has shown themselves to be a remarkable teacher in some area of Reiki expertise.  You may even desire a team of coaches, inviting them based on their particular gifts.  Establish a continual line of communication with them and always be willing to ask how to improve not only your work but your outlook.
  3. Practice Reiki on yourself – daily!  This sounds obvious, and yet I’ve heard many say they have difficulty “making time” for it.  As with any skill, you’re only as good as that which you do frequently. If you get out of practice, it will come back to you, surely. Just remember – if you’re working on others, you want to be able to say (with confidence) that you know what you are doing. When you’re experiencing results on yourself on a regular basis, it will be easy to tell someone else how Reiki results may manifest for them.
  4. Create structure for your practice.  The reason behind structure is to help yourself stay on task. Whether you prefer a certain time of the day, want to always utilize the Reiki hand placements or symbols, or have your Reiki room arranged in a certain configuration – these are all valid structure you can organize to keep you focused.  It’s quite easy to get out of sync when the busyness of life takes over.  So create your own protocol and follow it.  Allow yourself flexibility to change your process as your clients require it, your expertise grows and life and work styles change.
  5. Preparation counts.  Whether you are working on yourself, with a hands-on client or doing a distance session – be aware of your schedule. Give yourself 15-30 minutes or more before the session to become calm and centered. Know which music is most beneficial for the upcoming session.  If you use crystals or oils with Reiki, have them ready.  If you’ve had a challenging day, use a clearing method that will take away the residual energy of others/situations.  Get into a space of high spiritual connection that allows you to receive the universal life force energy for the best and highest good of each recipient.
  6. Go with the flow – literally.  All energy work manifests based on individual experiences; responses vary.  When you work on others, remember that the structure you use is not as important as being open to the needs of the person whose energy is in your hands.  With Reiki, you can do no harm, so experiment. Use/practice any new hand movements you may have read about based on the client’s energy manifestation.  Be open to all the sensations. Be mindful of what occurs, and if it’s a new experience, make a mental note to yourself if you need to talk through it with your mentor later.
  7. Let Reiki complement all other therapies. It has often been said that “many therapies working together” allows for greater benefit to a person.  Reiki truly is a modality that harmonizes with just about any other form of ‘treatment’, allopathic or wholistic.  Therefore, be discerning of a person’s needs; use your Reiki skills in combination with other energy modalities to serve the best and highest good of your client, with their permission of course.
  8. Listen and observe.  Whether you’re working with a Master, teaching a student or a communicating with a client, your learning will be elevated further by using all of your senses.  Yet hearing, sight and even smell seem the most important to me. It is through those three (when someone shares with you things that only a mind-reader might discern) that you will then be able to further sense beyond the conscious into the heart of your own and others spiritual needs.  The energy in your hands may feel elevated, more palpable, because conscious thoughts shared through the power of the Word have heightened your awareness even more.
  9. Continue your education.  This point cannot be stressed strongly enough.  Reiki is a continuous-learning modality. Not one session will pass where you haven’t learned or felt something new.  You have everything to gain by reading, taking courses, engaging other practitioners, participating in Reiki Shares, etc.  The more you educate yourself, the greater the benefit of the practice, and the better results your clients will sense from your work.
  10. Recognize yourself as capable.  Accept all things as possible, learn from others, and be willing and flexible to any subtle shift in the energy field – it may be changes in the environment, a physical response to your work, or a connection with the divine. Whatever the experience, know that you have the ability and the strength of character to do that which is good and right and necessary.  You are an amazing person, beaming Light for all to see.  Results are a natural response to the work you are manifesting.  Namaste.

One’s and Nine’s — Lessons to be Learned

A Facebook friend shared this quote this morning, which reminds me a bit of the numerology meanings for 1 & 9: beginnings and endings. Have you ever thought about it?

The numerology meaning of the number One is unity, beginnings, God, masculine, creative, and a symbol of physical and mental activity. It’s a number that expresses leadership and spotlight-type individuality. 

Nine represents achievement and completion. The goal is to culminate, complete and finish all endeavors. It holds the energy of all the numbers before it, and thus can be highly challenging.

Have you ever noticed that once in a while opportunities come to us that would have us go backward (in the time between our ears) — to see an old friend, to return to a prior company for a job opening, to live in a neighborhood long left behind. It stirs in us memories, perhaps opening our heart to “good times”.  But, sometimes what we may be attracting is yet-unfinished business. You think, wow–this would be a chance for a do-over. Yes!  And off you went.

How did that work for you? Did you gain what you sought? Or was the de-ja-vu just a reawakening of the truth:  at the time (it) ended, the change was indeed your own readiness for a new start?

On the other hand, returning to “visit” can have a restorative feeling to it.  Exploring the decisions and relationships long gone-by allows us to be grateful to all that occurred in our lives, bringing us to this moment, the here-and-Now!

Yes, it is true that there are cycles of life. Books have been written that say dealing with (rather than ignoring) the aspects of life as we are living them may be the easiest solution–rather than welcoming those issues back to “haunt” us later.  Those opportunities to close one door and walk through a new one can be scary and maybe disconcerting; it feels much easier to make no change at all, especially when there are multiple choices.  And yet, as in the meaning of a 9, allowing an “ending” really can be a chance to ascend to a new level of thinking, to connect with the Divine (your own divine, co-creator self) and thus to begin again.

A website summarizes, “the qualities of the number 9 are those of leadership, the ability to see clearly, integration, the three worlds – physical, intellectual, spiritual, last symbol before return to unity, ability to understand, inborn talents, compulsions, introspection, personal integrity, unity, truth, perfection, concord, dissolves ego attachments, challenges faced in looking for your own wisdom…”  Passing through a phase of 9 energy isn’t so bad after all – look at all we gain from it!

The  number 9 suggests we are simply concluding some business, and can now recognize how we are ready for whatever that new thing may be. We will soon start a new cycle, and have become better armed to cross over into that new arena because of the culminating process that is being released. It’s not about scarcity or loss – it’s about preparing and welcoming.

One is the number of beginnings, further clarified when we understand that One represents both kinds of action: physical and mental. We’re lighting the lamps to lead the way.  When, we begin to see Ones recurring in our lives, it indicates a time to exert our natural forces, take action, and start a new venture. Are you ready?

There is Purpose Behind You!

‘Each person comes into this world with a specific destiny – he or she has something to fulfill, some message has to be delivered, some work has to be completed. You are not here accidentally – you are here meaningfully. There is a purpose behind you. The whole intends to do something through you.’  – Osho

Did you ever wake up one morning & wonder,  ‘What am I here for?’  Odd thought, after (how many?) years of being. Perhaps.  or, not really.

Maybe you were doing (x) for years, all of a sudden find it whipped out from under; and the phase I call ‘oh-no-what-do-i-do-now’ happens. Whether by choice or by chance, you discover it’s time to rethink who you are or what comes next. And intuitively, that little voice inside has asked you one of the hardest questions: ‘what IS my purpose in life?’

Yes, the question is “who am I” and yet we think “what do I DO now?” It is  common to get embroiled with what am I “doing” rather than how am I going to “be”… and I would suggest you stick to the CONCEPT, both linked together, and consider these questions before you try to answer yourself:

  1. What do you love, your passion outside of all else?
  2. Where lie your values (we put money toward our values first don’t we?) — how have you defined them?
  3. Do the two line up?

Spiritual happiness (knowingly choosing to be who each of us is as an individual, separate and apart from all others, including labels we may be known as) comes when we are focused on living at our singular vibration doing that which has been intended for us.

As we’ve ridden the roller-coaster called Life, most of us get distracted by those things that just happen TO us along our way rather than because of our conscious choices. And it’s not uncommon to find ourselves on a track we hadn’t intended with consequences we could not have foreseen.Whatever your circumstances, you’re not alone. And there is always time to mosey back to where you want to be.

People with perception and maybe even wisdom of the ages have reminded us somewhere along the way (think hard, it really has happened to you) that you were meant to be…..(fill in the blank)?  [Think about it — didn’t Aunt Bertha used to say you had a nack for….? And what about Dad, as he reminded me just the other day to look into that new opportunity….  And, oh-yeah, even my boss told me in that last evaluation that my strengths lie in….]

All those little signs that were glossed right over while living the day-to-day– maybe right now, this your chance.  Time to invite into your life a few key mentors and guides. Don’t forget to ask others you respect and admire how they got started.  And your Source energy — God by any other name.  Ask for the blessing your are about to receive.

Then consider your options and lay out a plan only when you feel it is right. Take your time.  It requires some soul searching for sure.  Will it be easy or simple? Probably not…just remember, it’s not about money or family or necessity or (whatever).  Don’t rationalize away the need to be you.  You are now in a process of discovery, so let the blossoming begin!

Love the process and be flexible with your plan; be open to the new adventure right in your view. Get ready for a ride beyond all others…the ticket is in your hand. The only questions now are:  Are you going by bus, boat, plane, train or rocket ship? and, Who are you inviting on the ride?  The rest will come, naturally.

You are not here accidentally – you are here meaningfully.  Oh Joy! I look forward to seeing you along the way.

 

Negative Ions — Science, or Feel Good?

Well, Both!

If you could do one thing to increase your overall health, would you do it?  What if it was so simple, you couldn’t say no?  Then get to the beach my friend!  That is, unless you have a mountain stream or waterfall in your back yard.

What we’re talking about here is adding Negative Ions to your environment, naturally.   If you’re anything like me, just the phrase “Negative Ions” is enough to make my eyes glaze over.  That is until I understood we’re bathing in them daily anyway, no matter where we are.  So it makes sense to capitalize on their healing benefits, doesn’t it?  As we increase the number of Negative Ions in our midst, we encourage natural healing response within our bodies.

Negative Ions are found in clean air. There are many ions in the air we breathe, and the percentage and number of positive and negative ions change depending on the time and place.  The more we are able to control the amount of ions in our everyday life, the greater our capacity for improved health, and particularly for increased energy within the human body.

So What Are Negative Ions Anyway?

Ions are molecules that have gained or lost an electrical charge.  They are created in nature as air molecules break apart due to sunlight, radiation, and moving air and water.  The ideal amount of negative ions for our health is 400 to 1000 per cubic centimeter of air.  These numbers seems to be decreasing everywhere, primarily as a result of our contemporary life styles and how we treat the planet.  As a result, we are experiencing serious effects, such as headaches, insomnia and fatigue of both our body and mind. The list of afflictions that can be caused by an improper number of ions in the body is long.

What Inhibits Negative Ion Growth?

Unfortunately, it has been proven that certain environments can greatly reduce the effectivity of Negative Ions, and can in fact diminish them. Two key factors may be involved, both of which can be remedied to varying degrees.

(1) The concrete jungle (office buildings, homes, etc.) in which we live.  By decreasing the numbers of trees, plants and natural fauna on our planet, we diminish Negative Ion availability.

(2) Today’s man-made materials in fact do not allow the body to breathe, and thus reduce the absorption of Negative Ions.  The majority of fabrics used today for convenience and cost savings are synthetic.

What are the Benefits?

Negative Ions provide energy to the human body.  The billions of body cells are enclosed by a cell wall; and, the cell wall performs one of the most important functions — absorbing nutrition and eliminating waste material.

The cell wall can be normalized if there are enough Negative Ions both within and outside the cell.  The reverse is also true — if there is a lack of Negative Ions and too many positive ions within a cell.  Thus, the absorption and elimination processes cannot be done effectively.  The result could be adult diseases such as hypertension, arteriosclerosis, cerebral apoplexy and cancer.

Physical, Mental, and Emotional Benefits

When the physical appearance of the environment is improved (whether by being in a beach or mountain environment or by adding a fountain or pond to our surroundings), people often feel more at ease coming into such a space.  There are obvious healing benefits of which many have taken advantage over the ages.

Natural mineral baths and mineral springs have been know for their therapeutic benefits for centuries.  By lounging at the beach for a while, you may experience a lighter mood; some say a sense of euphoria grows. This will (sometimes immediately) result in mental and emotional relaxation of the mind as well.  When the physical body relaxes, stress begins to dissipate.

And as research has shown for some time now, stress reduction positively impacts heart, brain and other organ health significantly.  Additionally, some become aware of their spiritual center, and enjoy renewed self-expression and creativity as their physical health returns.

What Can You Do About It?

Perhaps it is for you as it is for me — whenever I go to the beach my whole body just relaxes.  Re-hydrating with good drinking water is crucial, too.  The muscles loosen up.  My mood lightens.  I can feel myself smile more, and those ‘worry lines’ just fade away as I sit under the rays streaming down on me.

If your geographic location keeps you from the coastline or mountain- or lakeside, consider adding some sort of water element to your living environment.   A pool or a spa are potential options, if your budget can be persuaded.

People utilizing the Eastern practice of Feng Shui already know that having a water “solution” in their home and office can be very beneficial.

Be sure to allow get outside daily, preferably several times a day. Walk and breathe.

Dog or Do-Do Bird? How are we adapting today?

This morning as I opened two emails I was struck by synchronicity at work.

First was Dr. Deb Betterly’s monthly newsletter where she talks about “struggle”: Struggle is trying to rearrange the world so that it aligns with the way you think it should be. It is the greatest source of unhappinessin our world today. This happens when you focus on what you perceive you don’t have, instead of embracing what you do have.

Then, Mary Morrisey’s daily meditation begins with “Be in harmony with your good.” She expanded the thought with a reference to evolutionary biology proving that it is always the highly cooperative species, not the highly competitive, that survive dramatic shifts.” Her reminder was that we contribute to the good when we are in harmony with and demonstrate it.

So, by example, we still have the wolf among us, but the way of the do-do bird is long gone. The gray wolf was so flexible in an evolutionary sense that it morphed into a species we call “domestic dog”, beginning as far back at least as 7,000 BC (some say 30,000 BC). And its offspring are some of our prized pets today. Not only did it survive in the wild, but the wolf’s legacy was learning how to adapt to the rest of the planet and survive for centuries into the future.

When we (humans) lift our consciousness, there is a raising of the consciousness of the whole world, a/k/a “mass consciousness”. The challenge is – what aspect of consciousness are we raising — the good, or the not-so-good? The universe doesn’t discipher. It just gives us what we’re thinking, and by our choice now we have to live with it, until we can change it again. First it’s a thought — then it’s a thing. Simple, but not easy.

Another example — Our planet is experiencing some of the most violent course corrections we can recollect: tsunami, hurricane, tornado, fire…the list is literally battering humanity in recent years. So, it’s easy to understand the comparison of struggle/stress to paddling upstream in a hurricane current. We’ve seen not only the coming of the wave, but the effects of the withdrawal current.

So if you’re in the middle of a harrowing moment and don’t know how you got there, do think back to your original choices. Which one did you make? Did it get your where you wanted to go? And how is that working for you?

Remember that by being in harmony with your good, and in harmony with life, you have the opportunity each moment of every hour of your being to make a choice that will let you float upstream rather than struggle. It’s your choice. You can choose to be in sync with your own heart spirit and that of the natural laws of our universe. Are you allowing yourself to adapt and grow? 3 Key Factors May Open New Possibilities Of Relief For You
Most of life’s illnesses are caused by Stress. More and more, the world community is becoming aware of a simple fact. In my study of the stress relief process, I’ve become aware of an extraordinary number of methods that work and simply want to share them here with you today. Often, it just takes “many therapies working together” — Find what works best for you (and your pocketbook), and may you be blessed with wellness.
1. Sometimes relieving stress is as simple as articulating it. Here are a number of ideas for you to employ:
• Breathe — Yes, a series of deep belly breaths (in breath through your nose extending your belly, & out breath through your mouth). Funny, when you focus on your breath, you can’t think of anything else.
• Walking. Simply walking at a leisurely pace allows your brain to bring clarity to issues. An easy stride can be rejuvenating as you simply pace yourself and let your hands move naturally alongside you.
• For those with artsy-abilities, expressing emotions through their personal medium acts as a relaxation technique.
• Music (sound) is a powerful vessel — listen or sing or play, whatever works for you. During meditation, tribal drums, massage Zen music subtly release the strain. It’s all good.
• The earth is the singular grounding mechanism…take off your shoes, walk in the grass a while, and just enjoy nature.
• Near the beach? or a lake? Walk, or lay down, enjoy the sun; reflect your natural self by looking up and feeling the rays.
• Those with an expressive spiritual nature find reading and silence the best meditation. Distracted by a chattery mind? Don’t worry…just let the thoughts pass through and release them.

 

2. Other resources that may be at your fingertips include trained practitioners of alternative wellness. As stress is relieved, oftentimes at the root source cause, you may notice pain dissipates and often goes away. You regain your sense of humor and find “living” is so much easier.

• Facial massage – Reflexology — WOW! It is absolutely amazing what relaxation and stress relief can come from simply working with the face, hands and feet!
• ETPS therapy, a combo of acupuncture and neurostimulation is a relatively new therapy that, among other things, does wonders with releasing scar tissue.
• Acupuncture, Qigong, Reiki and other forms of hands-on energy or Chinese Healing Arts can work wonders too.

 

3. A key factor in wellness is DENTAL health. Yes, that’s right — when your teeth, TMJ and the bones of your cranium are under stress, the results can directly impact your organ system through all the nerve connections with the teeth/head/neck. If you’ve had an accident that created whiplash or head injury…or, if something doesn’t feel ‘right’ after a dental visit ( but the dentist says there’s “nothing wrong”) a little stress relief in some other form may well get you back on the path of least resistance! Light therapy, biofeedback, acupuncture, massage…you will be amazed by the results.

There are other avenues available to you as well – today I’ve just shared those with which I’ve become most familiar. Do your own research. Recognize that you can heal yourself as you control your thoughts. Listen, learn and make course corrections as you go. Be patient with yourself as you learn new habits and skills. It is all within you.
